If you hangout in the SEO arena or haven’t heard the latest Google algorithm change (April 24th 2012)  affected 3% of websites out there based on Googles search engine query’s which is millions of websites disappearing into cyber dust. Now the US Government is starting a class action against the Internet Mogul of unfair practices. Even though Google is worth 360 Billion you they don’t want to mess with the U.S Government because they have brought down bigger fish than Google in the past and won.

So multi million dollar companies, business, mom and pop operations, cyber cafe blackhatters, your sites have dropped in rankings which can potentially mean millions even billions of dollars of lost revenue and business. I recently heard of a local marketer that had 25 clients depending on local ranking listings for leads and revenue and now the Google update has basically wipe out there means to earn income. Well maybe not that drastic and life will go on without Google but it just goes to show everyone needs to diversity and not just rely solely on Google for Organic rankings. Look what happen to Google Adwords publishers when Google decided to suspend accounts across the board in 2008. Businesses went broke overnight and that’s why the U.S Government have been watching Googles pactices for some time now.

So if SEO is your game your probably not really surprised or bothered because you’ve seen your fair share of updates and this is no different. For affiliate marketers that are not hardcore into SEO but just use it as as another tool , confirms that SEO should not be trusted and as the proverbial saying goes ” Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” .
